Melissa -
Thanks for this story. Remember the twinkies, but did like the hostess cupcakes the best, and yes after school. Did not like the coconut much on anything.

Frank

Forwarding this to my uncle who lived on Hostess cupcakes in the 50s, but Missy, Suzy Qs were all that if your name (in the 60s) happened to be Susie. Name changed to Sue in the 70s but the Suzy Q remains a sacred memory for me.

Melissa - I appreciate what you were describing. I have been called 3 times.
Picked once to serve 3 days. The other 2 times wasted the whole day only to be told I would not be needed. I'm told when you vote this is what gets your name selected. Don't know for sure, but anyway it is not a very happy place to be. The good thing is you should not be called back for at least a year.

Love it. Been there, done that - years ago - and your description is right on. My experience included a one hour STAND in a line outside a court room waiting to be questioned by the lawyers who finally reached a settlement and we were dismissed. I recall an elderly lady who wanted to sit down on the floor while waiting but was not allowed to do so. Isn't the word civic derived from the same root word as civil???

Melissa -
Only his wife needs the apology, but now that it is over I guess she did not attend. What good is it? He is going through all of this because of what happened to him. Had nothing happened he would be doing the same thing. Since his Dad died I see him as a complete different person.

Frank

Melissa, you were most definitely MISSED! I always looked forward to the "new entry at Melissa Isaacson" e-mails that signaled a funny new tidbit from you - on sports, on life, whatever - and I always knew it was something that would touch me in some way. When I stopped getting them, I just figured you'd lost interest in doing them and I was saddened by that (see, you got to me again!).

But this morning, when I finally checked my home e-mail and saw three new-article e-mails from you, I was elated to know that you were BACK, especially after I read the "Helllooo . . . ?" post!

So welcome back - we DID miss you! And J W is right, by the way . . . ;-) Thanks for letting us all hear from you - as I think I told you once when you first started your blog - "keep 'em comin'!"

Victoria
